Requirements for a Tourist Visa

- a passport valid for at least 6 months and a photocopy thereof

- a valid UAE residence visa and a photocopy thereof

- one application form fully completed and signed *

- two photographs with biometric characteristics not older than 6 months

(neither stapled nor glued). Specifications are as follows:

  • Minimum size of 3.5cms x 4.5cms
  • A frontal view of the face, which covers 70-80%  (32-36mm) of the photo
  • A uniform and light-coloured background
  • Clear facial features and eyes – not covered by hair or frame of glasses

Headcoverings of any kind are unacceptable, except for religious reasons.

- one instruction letter signed

- no objection letter from local employer or sponsor, stating position, salary and begin of employment in the UAE

- liability letter from the host in Germany (so called "Verpflichtungserklärung") and a photocopy thereof or confirmed hotel booking in the form of a pre-paid voucher

- proof of funds for all expenses in Germany (travellers cheques, credit cards etc.)

- up-to-date personal bank-account statement for the last three months and a photocopy thereof

- holiday health insurance policy and a photocopy thereof

(covering the whole period of the visa and all the Schengen States with a minimum coverage of 30,000 €)

* For nationals of:  Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Burundi, Columbia, Congo, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan (only diplomatic passports), Lebanon, Lybia, Mali, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Vietnam and Yemen, applications must be submitted at least 12 days in advance. During the processing time the passport has to remain with the German Consulate in Dubai.

For Palestinian nationals holding Lebanese Travel Documents or Egyptian Travel Documents and Somali nationals special rules apply (minimum processing time: 8 weeks).

Fees must be paid upon submission of the above in cash only.

For rejected visa applications no fee is refunded.
