As in previous years, the German International School in Sharjah and the German International School in Dubai organized a joint event themed "Reunification of Germany". Both classes of year 9, together with their history teachers, prepared a "television broadcast" performing the "Monday demonstrations", the "fall of the Berlin wall" as well as other events of November 1989.
Germany’s G20 presidency
Germany will be holding the presidency of the G20 in 2017. The summit of the heads of state and government and representatives of international organisations will be held in Hamburg on 7 and 8 July 2017. A number of G20 ministers’ conferences are scheduled to take place prior to this. The G20 Foreign Ministers will meet in Bonn on 16 and 17 February 2017. The summit and ministers’ meetings will provide an opportunity to discuss current international challenges and to raise awareness of new issues in international affairs.

Germany’s OSCE Chairmanship in 2016 – “Renewing dialogue, rebuilding trust, restoring security”
On 1 January 2016 Germany has assumed the Chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co‑operation in Europe (OSCE) and is therefore be responsible for steering the Organization safely through the stormy tides of crises and challenges in 2016. Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has presented the details of the Chairmanship’s programme to the 57 OSCE participating States in Vienna on 14 January 2016.
